Most of our hometown days have been focused on spending time with my mother, who overall is doing well. However, this afternoon Greg and I went for a walk from our friend's home where we're staying. My previous post showed the infamous wide sandy Barry Island beaches. Today, however, walking just a short distance took us to a large pebbley beach.
On the right you'll see the base of a windsurfer. A man was just bringing out his equipment while we were there. Although there was a warm breeze, the water temperature was about 12 degrees ... brrr!
Walking down to the beach, we passed this home, which had a beautifully landscaped terraced back garden.
On our right, as we passed this home, was a grassy hill. In Ontario, Canada, homeowners have faced a pesticide ban since 2009, so many lawns have a plentiful display of dandelions in spring and summer. In Barry, however, the equivalent growing wild in grassy areas are buttercups and daisies, and they are so pretty.
From the top of this slope, ahead and in both directions the pebble beach stretched far into the distance. To our far left we could see past the pebble beach, over the rooftops, to yet another bay.
Across the channel we had a relatively clear view of England. We saw a large ship travelling down the channel. It was a picture-perfect afternoon.
Nice.
