A trick question: How many summers in one year?

We are now just a few days into summer where we live in Niagara Falls, Canada. Sometimes spring and summer are quite similar here, and they merge into one long and pleasant warm and sunny season. I'll scatter some photos throughout this post, to share some of the lovely sights of summer at our home.

Our quiet frog

Once we leave summer and move into fall, Greg and I will be thinking more about our third year of snow birding, where we move to warmer climates to enjoy the sun and escape the cold Canadian winter. So why the trick question in the title? This upcoming snow birding season we'll be heading to Australia, where summer runs from December to February. Not only will we be escaping winter, we'll also move right from fall to summer again; we'll skip winter altogether. So the answer to the question is two summers in one year!

Our first pink water lily this year; all the others are white

Yesterday we confirmed our first house sit in Australia. This sit is for three weeks, from January 19 to February 12, and will be near Perth, in south western Australia. From here on in we'll focus on looking for house sits that will fit nicely either side of those dates. Where will they be? At this point, we have no idea. In doing some pre-planning, we've already come to realize Australia is a big country, and there are lots of options for how to spend our time away. One is the option of starting out in Hawaii, to break up the long journey. We're looking forward to the adventure!

Milkweed, to attract butterflies

I'll be sharing this post with others, as it's amazing how many people we know have links to Australia. If you know of anyone who may be interested in having us house sit, as volunteers, please have them contact us. I'll add our card below, for ease of reference.

I don't know this flower's name, but I think it's so pretty

I think we may have to learn a new language too. From what I understand, there are lots of phrases and sayings that may stump us. Again, part of the adventure. And yes, for those who want to warn us it will be hot, we are aware of that. We've always said we're chasing the warmth during winter, but now we'll be doing it in summer ... again!
