Wanna buy a floating home?

Earlier this week we had another "tourist" day and went to Fisherman's Wharf at the Inner Harbour in Victoria.

It was a hive of activity, with shops, restaurants, boats, and water taxis. An interesting feature is its floating houses.

The photo above was pinned to the wall of one of the homes.

There was also this explanation of the 33 float homes. To enlarge it, just double click on the photo.

There were two floating "streets"

In the following photos, I'm just going to walk you by some of the floating homes.

One was for sale. If you'd like to see the inside of it, check out this video. Unfortunately, the sales agent doesn't mention the price. What you'll see in this home, which is common to all of them, is that the living quarters are on the upper deck, and the sleeping area is on the main floor. This is to give them some privacy from all the people walking by in the daytime who naturally want to look into the homes. Most of the decks are also off the back, for the same reason.

Here's the smallest accommodation ...

Along with some signs ...

The very first home you come to is a Bed & Breakfast.

It has two rooms with queen beds in each, and you'll see they have a small deck off to the right in this photo. We were curious to know how much it would cost to stay there, and so I searched it. We were surprised to see that most nights they went for just over $100, which was less than we'd expected.

We stopped at Barb's Fish & Chips and sat outside and shared a meal of fish and chips. Both the restaurant and the wharf itself were highly rated on Tripadvisor, and definitely attract lots of tourists. It was an enjoyable afternoon.
