Fount Rushmore is in Arizona?

Mount Rushmore is a famous national memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota, USA. The faces of four American presidents are carved into the rock face.

So what does this have to do with our travels in Arizona? Well, today we visited Fount Rushmore. From previous posts you may guess that Fount Rushmore is in Fountain Hills, Arizona. More specifically, it's in Fountain Lake park, the town's central park famous for its tall fountain. In an area of the park, you'll find Fount Rushmore.

This plaque is at a permanent outdoor art exhibit at Fountain Lake. In this area are individual life-size metal sculptures of the four presidents whose images are carved into the face of Mount Rushmore. At the risk of wrongly labelling them, I'll pass on identifying each individually.

What puzzles me is why Ronald Reagan, a more recent former American president, is also in the gathering.

I didn't find any specific answers, although I did learn that President Reagan was one of the original three presidents in this outdoor display. I also learned there are 130 pieces of art displayed around the town, mostly outdoors, and that they were all made possible by individual donations. I think this is a credit to the people of Fountain Hills. We're certainly enjoying this lovely, friendly town and its sense of community.

As the sun went down today, we were treated to some beautiful sunset colours from the deck of our current home. Tomorrow's forecast calls for the same temperatures as today, which is certainly cold to the locals here. Let's hope it's a case of "red sky at night ...". It is supposed to warm up more over the next few days.
