Snowbirds go south for warmer weather, don't they?

This morning we were out walking (with Fanci, of course) and saw this,

What type of party did these people have last night?

It wasn't until we went up close that I realized it was weather-related. Can you guess?

We have certainly had below-normal temperatures here this week⎯apparently about 15ºF below⎯but watching the Phoenix TV weather reports has been quite entertaining. Their catastrophic-type warnings were mainly concerning plants and pets that normally stay outdoors in what was expected to be around freezing overnight. The online weather sites all include Special Weather Statements which sound quite alarming.

So, today the outside plants at many homes were draped with various sheets. We didn't do that, but thankfully the plants look fine ... and of course, we didn't leave Fanci out overnight!

This roadrunner wasn't bothered by the cool weather today.
It was fluffing up its feathers in the sun.
(Thanks, Sharon, for identifying the bird for me!)

Today we were given a great compliment from the homeowners at this, our first official housesit. We've been asked to come back for three weeks, during February and March. We're happy to oblige. I told them it's quite brave of them, given that they haven't even been back yet to see the house and dog! Greg keeps offering to "give her a trim" ... I need to hide his hair clippers!
