For our friends who like to wear Harley-Davidson t-shirts, here's another option we saw at the market in Mexico! |
We chose to take a more southerly route back to Arizona, to vary the scenery. We also decided to travel partway on what the map labelled as scenic drives. So, for an hour or two we left the interstate and travelled smaller winding roads with a great variety of views - mountains, valleys, farmland, and small towns. We then picked up Interstate 8 just east of San Diego, and again enjoyed great scenery going through rocky mountain ranges.
The weather was overcast so it didn't make for good lighting to take photos. Travelling south though, we went from 62ºF at noon in Los Angeles to 70ºF in the evening in El Centro. Yeah!
An earlier blooper photo. Amazing how Greg managed to balance that palm tree on top of his head! |
We stopped for the night in El Centro, California. This day had us travelling over quite a few mountain ranges, but by the end of the day we were in what Google states is the largest U.S. city to lie entirely below sea level, at -39 feet, and only 10 miles from the Mexican border.
We'll continue our journey towards Tucson. So, bye bye California.
Our Crown Princess cruise to Puerta Vallarta etc in November took us to different ports.... I love walking along the malecons... so much flavor! Y'all look like you're really enjoying this winter. By the way, Bill showed me just now how I can comment on your blog... all this time I didn't know THAT little trick... woooohoooo!
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon. Welcome aboard to our blog. We're happy to have you travelling with us. I'm sorry to see that you're having lousy weather in Texas. We really haven't seen any rain since we left home. We're hoping to cross paths with you sometime soon. Love to you both from us both. Oh, and Greg said "nice hair"!
