Our house sitting schedule is evolving

As you may know, we started this journey December 8th, based on a two-week Christmas house and pet sit in Peoria, Arizona. Other than a scheduled New Year's visit to the Los Angeles area, the rest was unplanned. Our main goal was to stay away from the cold Canadian winter.

So how is the house sitting going? So far we've been more successful than I'd ever imagined. We were invited back to the Peoria, Arizona home for three weeks over February and March. We also met another family in Phoenix and have arranged a house sit for them in February and possibly March. Add to that a 9-day booking in Tucson, Arizona for the end of January.

Out walking Sierra and Lilly today

We're also short-listed for a March date in Austin, Texas. We've turned down two bookings⎯one in Santa Barbara and the other in Phoenix⎯as they overlapped current bookings. We were also approached by a Canadian couple living in Phoenix, who also have a home in Vancouver, asking if we'd consider going to Vancouver this summer to do a house sit. Hey, why not?

Our newest sheep, Sol and Vang - no prizes for guessing where Greg bought them!

This week we received what I believe is a great compliment. We were approached by a family to house and pet sit for a month in Sydney, Australia, starting in April. We didn't apply; they just saw our profile and contacted us. I explained our route for this year, but who knows ... maybe next year?

Some of the 12 sheep (and one bear) that we "adopted out" in Costa Rica last winter

With no bookings until late January, we've booked a 10-day Mexican cruise out of Los Angeles with Princess Cruises, leaving tomorrow. So, given the high cost of Internet on cruises, there will be a lull in this blog while we're away.

Trying to pack for a previous trip, where sheep weren't  invited!

Get ready for a long blog when I return. ¡Adios, mis amigos!

    1. Hi Carol. I did think of you often while we were on the cruise, as I can see how it's a good fit for you and Dave and the things you enjoy. We did enjoy ourselves; it was a nice change of pace.
