Some of life's simple pleasures

I'd like to introduce you to the two most recent members of our flock: Katy on the left and Walt on the right. They're sitting on one of the chairs on our balcony. Katy was adopted in Katy, Texas, and Walt is from here in Fort Walton, Florida.

When I took this photo this morning, I didn't know that Katy would be leaving us today. However, when an opportunity arises, we try to pass sheep along. Today and yesterday we've enjoyed getting to know the lady who cares for our condo. She volunteers at a nursing home, so in the absence of having met any children who need something huggable, I thought she might know of someone at the home. She immediately did, and so I decided Katy was best to go as she's an Easter sheep who has a cross embroidered on her. I'm sure she'll be well-loved.

We enjoyed a walk along the beach this morning. Although the sky in this photo looks quite threatening, the weather was actually lovely. The beaches in Florida are known for being swarming with spring break university and college students at this time of year, but this area is geared more for families and snowbirds. We picked it for that reason, and today we saw many families enjoying time together at the water's edge.

On our walk back along the road, we admired this flowering bush.

We've now been travelling almost four months and have covered 8,600 miles. It amazes me that it's more than the distance of our return flight from Toronto, Canada to Wales, UK. For someone who usually doesn't enjoy road trips, I'm certainly enjoying this one!
