Heading south, in search of warmer weather

Today we started our journey south, heading for Arizona for an upcoming house sit in Peoria. We'll be returning to our first house sit with TrustedHousesitters, to once again spend time with our friend, Fanci.

Fanci

We stopped at lunchtime today, and this is what we saw ...

Poor Greg is shivering with just a t-shirt on

When we visited St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands earlier this week, a local there told us: Think about how tiny a bird's brain is ... and even they are smart enough to fly south for winter!

The temperature for most of our journey today was 33 F / 0 Celsius.

The low price of gasoline still surprises us here - $1.79 gallon (U.S.) - $0.64 a litre (Canada) - £0.32 a litre (Britain). If you're paying cash here, you deposit an amount before you pump the gas. Filling the tank came to $20 U.S., which was way less than what I'd given as a deposit. Bonus!

Friends and family have asked us to check in on our journey to Arizona. We're currently stopped just off Interstate 70, in Richmond, Indiana, near the border of Indiana and Ohio.

Reminder: We have the prior approval of the pet owners to post photos and stories.
