We've arrived in sunny Arizona

We've returned to our first house sit home in Peoria, Arizona. Last night we stayed in Holbrook, Arizona, home of the famous Petrified Forest National Park. We visited the park last year, and did a blog post about it, as we found it so interesting.

There are flowering trees and bushes everywhere in this community

Today, we did the last three hours of our journey. The distance we've covered may be difficult for some people to grasp. For example, last week, being in St. Thomas USVI, the whole length of the island was six miles. Yesterday and today, we've been covering just one line of our trip planner, which said "Turn west on Interstate 40 for 857 miles". What a contrast!

Our final stretch of the journey took us west until Phoenix was directly south of us, and then we travelled for over two hours. Before we turned south, this was the view:

Yes, that's snow on the mountain top, and we were at 7000 feet elevation. We woke this morning to 28 F (-2 Celsius), but by the time we travelled down into the Phoenix area, it was 65 F (18 Celsius).

The roses are in full bloom in "our" yard

We took a nice walk in the warm sun with our friend, Fanci. We're living in a beautiful gated community and it's a pleasure to walk here and see the beautiful homes, clubhouse, and grounds. Fanci enjoyed her time chasing rabbits too, and she kept Greg running.

When we arrived, Fanci didn't recognize me for a moment, but when Greg came in the house behind me, then she recognized us. She was happy to play outside with us in the sunshine!

Reminder: We have the prior approval of the pet owners to post photos and stories.

  1. Traveling to new places is so much fun... but there's a lot to be said for "going home" to the familiar as well. Welcome Home!
